Tropical Green Smoothie

I don’t know about you but this cold spring we are having has me feeling DESPERATE for some warm sunshine. By April every year, I find myself digging into my summer recipes with the hopes that maybe, just maybe, summer will be around the corner. This smoothie fits the bill for a great summer-vibbing (yes I made that word up..) ‘treat’. I have to put treat in parenthesis because it may taste like a treat, but it is LOADED with all kinds of nutritious foods. I drink this bad-boy up for breakfast, lunch or for my recovery snack. I can bet kids will even love it! So if your feeling the ‘spring 2018 blues’ like I am, whip this guy up, crank Zac Brown Band’s ‘Island Song’ and whisk yourself away for a few minutes…

Makes 2-3 smoothies

Ingredients:

·         1 cup packed spinach leaves (or kale if you have a powerful blender)

·         1 cup frozen pineapple chunks

·         1 cup frozen mango chunks

·         1 banana

·         ½ avocado

·         1-2 cups coconut milk

·         Optional for added protein: 2 Tbsp hemp protein powder

Directions:

1.       Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth (yes, its that easy!)
